Solving The Mortgage Crisis

Senate Republicans are Blocking Common Sense Solutions to the Mortgage Crisis

Foreclosures cost the entire community. Neighborhoods are destabilizing and crime is increasing. It is in everyone's interest to reverse this flood of foreclosure filings.

Recently, the Senate Banking Committee came to a tentative agreement that could help regular Americans, and now the issue faces the full Senate.

The Democrats Principles

The principles that Democrats are backing aren't radical, they're just necessary, such as:
- Rushing emergency resources to nonprofit housing groups that are on the front lines, fighting to keep families in their homes.

- Providing even more funding to city and state agencies working to help borrowers save their houses.

- Enacting tough new government oversight to end predatory lending.

- Provide new assistance to creditworthy homeowners who need help refinancing now, before they get caught in the mortgage crunch.

These common sense solutions, are just what's necessary.
Foreclosures have been rising for at least four years with no real aid to the victims -- the homeowners.

It is clear that we need change that holds brokers accountable and requires common-sense standards. We need mortgage documents people can read and understand and that disclose all the costs, fees and hidden charges in a loan.

Senate Democrats are backing several common sense solutions to address the mortgage crisis now, but the Bush Republicans are obstructing the way. Tell Senate Republicans that voters want them to stop blocking efforts to solve the mortgage crisis:

We can't accept any more delays. Americans are losing their homes and they need help. Please sign the petition, and tell the Senate GOPers to stop obstructing common sense solutions: http://go.care2.com/e/5YK9/vCUj/AlVvl

Contributor's Note

Personal experience comment:
Please make an effort to equally help EVERYONE that is in this crisis.

I too am a victim of a predatory loan and I too am at risk of losing my home, but I can't qualify for the NACA program because I am NOT a minority, NOT a democrat and NOT on public assistance.

These programs are focused it seems on one group and your discriminated against if you don't fit that group.

Please make it easier for professional single white women who are in the same difficult situation to seek aid in saving their home and at the same time struggling to put their kids through college.
