Some of my favourite TV shows, and why you should watch too

These are some of my favourite TV shows that I enjoy watching, and why. You may want to try too:

(As for where this are showing: NBC, AXN and ABC show most of this shows, but a more comprehensive list would be too long. They are widely distributed, consult your local cable guide or Wikipedia for a full list)

Series: House, MD (AXN - 4 seasons so far, still running)
Why: Hugh Laurie is entertaining to watch as a lovable asshole who treats his patients and team with contempt, but ends up saving their lives and teaching his team valuable lessons. In real life no one can be this offensive and survive, but it helps that he's always right. At least in the show that is.

Series: Damages (AXN - Season 1, just started)
Why: Glenn Close is intriguing to wtch as a ruthless menace that appears surprisingly calm and professional. Fatal Attraction fans will be interested to know what animal she kills in the pilot episode. The show revolves around Patty Hewes, a successful and ruthless lawyer and her doe eyed apprentice Ellen Parsons who just started working for her. The show is told in two seperate timelines - and as the series progresses, you find out more about it. At the end of the series, you'll probably find out how Ellen went from a fresh bright lawyer to a blood soaked wreck. (Spoiler: Not her own blood).

Series: Nip/Tuck (FOX - 5 seasons so far, still running)
Why: The adventures of Troy & McNamara, both plastic surgeons is a good take on the value of friendship & brotherhood as well as the dark side of human nature. Not recommended for the squeamish.

Series: Prison Break (FOX - 3 seasons so far, still running)
Why: Michael Schofield is the new MacGuyver. I know you remember the theme song to MacGuyver. The plot moves at a snails pace (eg, one whole season to break out of prison). However, the twists and turns and most importantly, the characters make it quite worth it. It also has hot chicks.

Underrated, cancelled, but damn good while it lasted:

Series: Veronica Mars (TheCW - cancelled)
The best series I have ever watched, with the best dialogue ever in my opinion. Cancelled after three seasons because it was too intelligent for the majority of the American public. It's kind of like Nancy Drew film noir, where the lead protagonist is a high school girl that helps our her dad who is a private investigator. You will know the show's lead, Kirsten Bell from Heroes (the electricity shooting girl), and as the voice of "Gossip Girl" from the tv show of the same name. Start from Season 1. You won't regret it.

Series: Day Break (ABC - cancelled)
Taye Digg stars as Brett Hopper, a detective framed for murder, and his girlfriend gets killed. Pretty cliched premise, but here's the catch: It's like Groundhog Day turned murder mystery. Each day keeps repeating, and he is stuck in the time loop until he finds out who framed him and get his girlfriend's killer. Until then, his girlfriend will get shot every day, which sucks. The show was originally developed to fill the season break for "Lost", so if you enjoy mysteries (and Prison Break, no relation), you will like this.

Contributor's Note

I'm pretty sure this information is accurate as its my own opinion on why I enjoy watching them. It may be useful to people who may not have heard of these shows, and would like a good reason to try them.
