Speeding Ticket Tip
People make many crazy and costly mistakes when talking to a police officer in an attempt to get out of a speeding ticket. One of the most often quoted excuses or reasons that people give a police officer for speeding is that their speedometer is not working, or not working correctly. This is a big mistake because not only can the police officer cite you for the initial traffic stop of speeding, but he/she can also cite you for operating a vehicle with mechanical deficiencies. If you use the speedometer excuse, the citing officer can also force you to immediately remove it from the public highway, and not operate it again until the repairs are made. In some states, the police officer can remove your license plate from the vehicle right on the spot, then have it towed into impound as an abandoned vehicle. In summation, never tell a police officer there is something mechanically wrong with your vehicle. |
