Though I titled this intel as Squidoo Lens for Link Building, Squidoo lens does more wonder than just building links for your site. Some of the advantages of Squidoo lenses are briefly explained below.

Building Backlinks

With Squidoo, you have the opportunity to add links to your site that are DOFOLLOW. When you create a lens at the beginning, you will however notice that the links are NOFOLLOW but you will also see under your Squidoo Dashboard when your are logged in that the lens has a grey - (minus) sign next to with WIP (work in progress) status. Do not confuse yourself with the nofollow links and work in progress status even though you have completed your lens. This is only temporary for about 24-48 hours after which the lens will have a green check mark next to it with the links being dofollow.

If you create a lens to get backlinks to your existing site, you will obviously create a lens based on the same topic of your site which will give you a relevant backlinks. In case if someone is not aware, Google these days defines neighborhood and put a lot of weight on relevant backlinks.

These relevant lenses are actually selected based on the tag you select for your lens. So if you tag your lens properly, there is an opportunity to get some traffic form other related lenses. When you submit to related Squidoo groups, you get not only a backlink to your lens from the groups but also traffic form group members.
