Staging Your Home For Sale

Hiring a stager can be a great step to selling your home quickly and for more money. If you choose not to hire someone there are ways to maximize your sale by yourself.

Declutter!
1). Get into your closets and pack away anything that you won't be using for the next few months.
2). Take everything possible off your kitchen counters to make the countertop look large.
3). Take magnets and mess off the refrigerator as well.
4). Pack up knick nacks and unnecessary items unless it will make your home look too bare.
5). Get a storage unit for unneeded furniture.

No, you can't make your house bigger, but through decluttering and moving furniture around you can make it seem bigger.

1). Move your furniture around so that it doesn't block natural paths and doors.
2). Ensure that your furniture matches in each room, don't mix contemporary with antiques for example.
3). Maximize the layout of furniture. Try several different layouts.

Clean!
There is nothing that can substitute for a clean home when having your house on the market. Hire a professional cleaner if necessary but ensure that it is as clean as possible at all times.

Deordorize!
If your home has a pet odor or cigarette odor or any other type of potentially offensive odor ensure that you get at the root cause of it. Don't try to cover up the problem. Potential buyers will notice that. Do what it takes to eliminate the problem.

Good luck with selling your home!
