I have worked on my blogs in the past few months trying to keep an organized schedule of topics to help my readers. Monday is Marriage Monday; today I have listed Staying in Love as the topic. There I get real personal about staying in love; here I want you to take a minute and look at who you are IN love with. Now this topic, here, may be more spiritual than emotional, but you have to find out who you are in order to get on the right path.
If you are IN love with someone other than God you have just created an idol in your life. When I say IN love, I mean, are you putting that person or thing even, above God in your life today? If so, rethink that 'love'.
Loving is a choice you make for another. Love is the right thing to do, but putting them ahead of the Lord is going to hurt you in the long run and you may wonder who and what you are loving as your struggles continue.
(oh, yes, this is mainly for the married)
Being IN love with someone,after re-directing that love properly, allows you to know how to build them up, encourage their individuality and allow them to love you back. Being humble, sweet and kind, opens the door for the other person to treat you the same way. You can't choose to love a person on your terms only, you will always be emotionally and spiritually defeated.
Choosing to stay in love (after re-directing that love properly) is an open door for effective communication and unselfishness. Sometimes our "love" lives have to focus on the other person and not ourselves. It has to focus on what is going to help the other SEE you better.
Choose love: God first, the rest second!
