Stevie Nicks concert experiences
Stevie live is a magical experience. I've seen her many times... sometimes alone (closer to the stage... yes!) and sometimes with my husband (farther back... he doesn't get the point of paying more to be up close and personal at a concert. Sigh.) Tip: If you're going for a front-floor seat, get one on the aisle even if you have to be a few rows farther back... the better to scoot up that aisle near the end of the show and, if you're quick, get to stand stageside. If the best you can do is rear floor or mezzanine, try to get as close to center stage as possible. From that vantage point Stevie will seem to be singing right to you (if you have a vivid imagination ;-) Though she doesn't have the vocal range and raw power she did 20 years ago, her voice has gained subtlety and her feelings still come through loud and clear. And she can still pull out all the stops vocally when she needs too. Stand out memories for me include a full throated "Edge of Seventeen"... I think the entire crowd was up, screaming and thumping and singing along for this one... a gorgeous "Rhiannon" that started slowly,softly and then absolutely roared with intensity and banshee wails at the end... a spooky, uberdramatic "Gold Dust Woman" alternately raspily whispered and wildly screamed... and a "Stand Back" that got a lot of audience reaction, as well it should have as it was rock-out fabulous. One of the most touching segments was Stevie dedicating "Landslide" to her Dad, then poignantly singing in front of a slideshow of images of herself growing up. But can she still can do those trademark high kicks and multiple twirls? Yes! And her wardrobe is still to die for: ethereally flowing skirts and shawls in various combinations of black, white, red and gold. Beautiful. The appeal of Stevie Nicks cuts across generations. Before one show started, I heard a teenaged girl behind me talking to a friend on her cell saying "half the crowd is my mother's age and half is mine. It's weird!" I was 50 at the time.... probably older than her mom, LOL! And there were two guys sitting in front of us in their mid 20s who were ecstatically clapping and stomping through the whole show and every once in a while letting out a "I love you Stevie!" which pretty much summed up everybody's thoughts that night, and during every Stevie Nicks show I've been lucky enough to attend. If you get a chance to see her live... do it! |

I couldn't agree more with your intel, I love Stevie nicks work especially a rare copy I have of Landslide (live acoustic) A truely unparalleled artist!
