Does Sunscreen Protect you from
Cancer or Cause It? Sunscreen is not the protection you need to avoid skin cancer. I believe it actually promotes cancer. It blocks out the cancer fighting Vitamin D that the sun gives us. In turn it has been shown to be carcinogenic (cancer causing).
Vitamin D
Vitamin D is very important to your health and it helps guard your body against cancer. Sun tan lotion keeps you from receiving this benefit from the sun.
Dr. Mercola (www.mercola.com), who authors the world's most popular natural health newsletter, estimates that 50,000 people die each year in the United States from not getting enough sun exposure.
If sun exposure caused cancer, it would seem logical to assume that there would be more skin cancer at the equator than there would be at more extreme latitudes. Studies show just the opposite!
The further people are from the equator the higher the incidence rate of skin cancer. At Dr. Mercola's site you can read the article and view a video that graphs this information.
One word of caution, while sunlight is vital to your health, you do not want to get sunburned. This can definitely put you at risk for health problems later in life. Always start out the sun season getting small amounts of sun to avoid burns.
The Myth that Sunscreen Prevents Cancer
Studies have shown that rather than protect you from cancer, sun screen will cause it. It's bad enough that it blocks the absorption of ultraviolet radiation (which makes Vitamin D in your skin). It's also filled with toxic chemicals that are carcinogenic.
Why in the world would we be lead to believe something as incorrect as this? Money is the short answer. For a longer one go to the first link listed below.
