T Ride
T Ride crashed onto the rock scene in the 90s with their unique blend of vocal harmony, falsetto leads and technically virtuosic performances. They are probably the most underrated rock band, and only ever released one album. Jeff Tyson, their guitarist, was trained by Joe Satriani himself and despite being an extremely talented guitar man, doesn't take a solo through the whole album. On listening to the album, you think "damn these guys are good" and you can't help but get swept up in the energy and sound of the songs. The sound is dense, huge and belies the fact that it was self produced by T Ride's drummer Eric Valentine. Probably my favourite song on the album is "I Hunger" with those stadium sounding drums with the big reverb and that guitar intro. That song has hit written all over it. The rhythm guitar section is just awesome. Funky, Rocky with these cool licks littered through the tune. You can't argue with "Hit Squad" either. This is the kind of music to get your adrenaline pumping. The album is, as far as I know, out of print now, but if you can find yourself a copy in a second hand store, snap it up, take it home and get ready to rock! |
