The Legal System - Lawyers
I have been involved with lawyers involving two different incidents. One with child molestation and one with divorce. I was amazed and appauled by the actions of attorneys. It was very obvious to me that they really weren't in that profession to help people but rather than dig into our pockets. When I was with my attorney, he would act like the opposing attorney was his worst enemy, when, in fact was probably going to have lunch with him/her that day. My first realization of this behavior was with the molestion of my granddaughter by her biological grandfather. Although there was actual proof that the incident did happen, my lawyer, his lawyer, and the guardiem adlite danced around the truth. Needless to say this man was never charged and is probably still molesting children. When I was filing for my divorce, the same actions occurred with these two attorney's. It was absolutely incredible. Having the above under my belt already I was more prepared to handle this situation. So for all you people out there dealing with attorney's, especially for the first time, my best piece of advice is not to let them think they are your best friend and that they can help you. Only you can help you by doing research on your own situation, knowing facts, getting references on your attorney, and just plain standing up for your rights. Don't forget, the attorney you hire is your "employee". You're paying him. He is supposed to do what YOU want him to do. |
