The Sad Blending Of Parenting And The Military
As much as the role of parenting is like that of the military, it is a sad blend. As patriotic parents, you are responsible for the health, safety, welfare, morale, discipline, food, and shelter of your child or children. The same holds true for the military's responsibilities towards it's patriotic service members. Yet, technology advancements, greed, debt, and moral deterioration within society make it difficult for both the parent, and the military to meet those responsibilities to their children and service members. It is difficult for parents who once worried about a punch in the eye, or bullies when it came to the safety and welfare of their child or children when they now have to worry about school shooting gumen and gangs. It is difficult for the military that once worried about bullet wounds and entrenched enemies when it came to the safety and welfare of it's service members when now they have to worry about laser guided weapons of mass destruction, and urban warfare. The homes of parents have now become military headquarters containing folded flags that once draped the coffins of their children. Proud pareents who once rushed to see their child in the local school play are now turning their faces in horro from the unidentifiable remains of their child who died on foreign soil. It is a sad and depressing blend of parenting and the military brought on by the politicians that once voted for resolutions who now vote for change. Wasn't it change that caused it all, or is this what it is resolved to be?
