The Zen of Pay-Per-Click
One of most popular ways of making money online is PPC - getting paid to click on ads. The advertiser of course hopes the clickers will actually read the ads and take action by joining their services or buying their products. The clickers usually just want the money. I belong to a few... all right several... of these programs and my reasons are not purely financial. There are times when I actual enjoy the repetiveness of the process. Click Click Click It's restful. Meditative. Hypnotic, even. While part of my brain is reading... OK scanning... the ads for something of interest... and occasionally I will actually stop, read and take action so no worries, advertisers, you're not wasting your money... another part of my brain is on vacation in an imaginary Zen garden of stillness and peace. I wouldn't go so far as to say PPC produces an altered state of consciousness, but after a long day of thinking and planning and "working hard" it can be pleasant and maybe even theraputic to sit for an hour or so with nothing more mentally strenuous to do than click-click-click and watch ads scroll by. P.S. to advertisers: it's the unique, visually pleasing and most of all believable ads that pull me out of that meditative state to take a clear look at your products so put some thought into what you put out there for the clickers to see :-) Author ~ Catresea Ann Canivan |
