These heroes who shed their blood for this land...
And, most important are the words for all soldiers who gave their lives for this land. These words were spoken to our enemies by Ataturk, group commander of Anafartalar and the founder of Modern Turkey. " Those heroes that shed their blood and lost their lives...! You are now lying in the soul of a friendly country, therefore rest in peace. There is no differences between the Johnnies and the Mehmets to us where they lie side by side here in this country of ours... You, the mothers who sent their sons from far away countries wipe away your tears. Your sons are now lying in our bosom and are in peace. After having lost their lives on this land they have become our sons as well." ATATURK, (1934). In recent times Turkey and Anzacs(Australian and New Zealand soldiers)and nationals have become friends, respecting the sacrifices of their young men, dating from the original ANZAC Day,April 25 1917. We will remember them!

Contributor's Note
Anzac Day is on April 25 every year. It is a day of remembrance for both Australian and New Zealanders. It is a holiday in both countres. In New Zealand, it is regarded as a religious commemoration with dawn parades and memorial services during the morning. Returned services people gather at Returned Services Association clubs during the afternoon and evening. Many sporting fixtures and horse racing meetings are also held during the afternoon. It is similar in Australia with their returned services members meeting at their RSL's - Returned Service leagues.
