Clocks .. marking time in precise seconds and parts of seconds of each minute of each hour of each day. Time ... a measurement of the in precise oscillations of an atom of cesium .. upon which the atomic clock time is based.
The precise measurement of time is an integral part of our lives whether we know it or not .. or are aware of it or not.... from transportation to business dealings to entertainment to commmunication to financial transactions. All are dependent on that finely defined millisecond of time.
There was a time when clocks were not a part of life.. but as man became more civilized... measuring time to organize life more efficiently became important and then indispensable.
When did we cross the line.. where the measurement of time became so integral in our lives that every second of every minute of every hour is now measured in each of our lives to the point we barely have one second free to overlap another?
Did we cross the line?
Sitting on a porch swing listening to those seconds tick by seems to be a pure luxury to most today... a luxury that most probably don't even know how to enjoy.
Remember the old joke ... why did the boy throw the clock out of the window? So he can see time fly....
We don't need to throw the clock out today. Time flies by in those marked seconds even as we read this.
