Torrents
Hey Y'all, If you are a seasoned web surfer and know all the latest stuff, you have probably heard of torrents. If you don't do too much, you might not have heard of them. Maybe you have and don't really know what they are. Here is some info on them. A torrent is a file used by downloaders such as µTorrent or Bit Comet. They open the file and begin by looking for seeds. A seed is a person uploading the file for you to download. Once it finds one or more seeds, it will begin to download at the rate at which the seeders are uploading. If there are no seeds, there are also peers. A peer, to the best of my knowledge, is a web site such as Mininova that is uploading it from their server. If there are no seeds or peers, then the file can't be downloaded until one or more connect. The torrent files are generally a very small file such as a few kilobytes, but the files that they download range from a few kilobytes to a few gigabytes. I hope this helps. I use torrents frequently so I am familiar with good sources. I'll list some below, and a link to µTorrent. |
µTorrent
| Mininova
| The Pirate Bay
| Seed Peer
| ISO Hunt
