Traffic Generation – Create a Press Release

Here is part five in a series about how to drive traffic to your site. In this fifth part, I want to talk about the power of press releases to help deliver traffic.

Not too many years ago, press releases were only used by big companies. Over the last 3-5 year, though, they are increasingly being used by the every day marketer.

The good news is that there are a number of services that will send out press releases free or at a very reasonable rate. Companies and websites such as PRWeb, Free Press Release, Open PR, 1 888 Press Release, and 24/7 Press Release are great places to send out your press release.

When creating your press release, you need to write so that you create a buzz about your site without hard selling it!

Remember that a lot of these press release editors get a ton of releases each day. Keep the release simple, yet compelling enough to make the reader want more information. Think about just creating a short article when you are writing the release. In the release, you need to have:
(1) A short, compelling title / headline
(2) A sub heading / short sentence talking about the main idea of the release
(3) The current date, and city/state where it’s originating from
(4) A few paragraphs about your topic (keep them short and use 2-3 paragraphs)
(5) Close with a summary that gives details on your website, including your name and website address

Again, don’t overlook this technique…your competition isn’t!
