Instant Traffic
You can start getting Instant hits to your site by joining auto surf sites, this is effective for driving traffic, but you will only get hits, because of the way autosurfs work you will only rarely have your site seen by a human.

Quick Traffic
You can start getting traffic to your site quickly by joining manual surf sites, these work by you viewing sites to earn surf credits which allow your site to be seen. the surfer has to view each site for a timed period, and click a link when the time stops to move on to the next site.
This method of traffic generation requires some effort, but used consistently can produce good quality traffic to your site.

Search Engine Traffic
There are two types of search engine traffic, PPC (payperclick) and organic traffic.
Pay per Click traffic is traffic you pay for when some one clicks on your ad. The way this works is you decide what keywords you think will bring visitors to your site, and them you decide how much the visit is worth to you. If for example you decide that you would pay 50 cents per visitor that is what you would bid for your selected keyword.
When a searcher used that keyword in a search your ad could be shown in the results page, if your ad is clicked on you are charged 50 cents for the traffic.

Organic traffic is when the searcher enters a keyword and the search engine finds and displays your page because the content is relevant to the search term.
Organic traffic takes longer to achieve because the page has to have relevant content, the page needs to have been indexed by the search engines and it needs to be in the first 20 or so results to stand any chance of being seen
