Useful Trash Box Sometimes it's better to think out of the ordinary.I didn't before, but I do now and here is my story on why.
I was on my hands and knees going through the plastic bowls, again, looking for the right size bowl and wouldn't you know, it was way in the back of the cabinet. So after digging past all the other bowls and getting a firm grip on this one bowl, I started backing out. Bowls and lids came tumbling out with me.
Then it hit me, I have to find the right cover (lid)
or this bowl will be useless. Exasperated, I sat on the floor and thought "does this kind of frustration happen
to everyone when looking for a bowl with a proper fitting lid?" I certainly hope not!
Even though I dreaded it the chore of finding the lid that would fit this bowl was unavoidable. So once again I was
digging inside the cabinet. The minutes are ticking by....and there are so many lids to go through. By now I am getting a little ticked-off, at myself, for not being as organized as I should.
Right then and there I made a promise, to myself, to fix this problem.
A few minutes later, I found the right lid, washed the bowl and lid, put the food in the bowl fit the top on and put it away in the fridge. Then I went to work on getting the cabinet in order. I divided all the bowls into 3 stacks, Large, medium, small.
Now came the lids....How am I to keep them in order?
That's when the little light came on over my head....you know...the one that is always there when you get a bright idea...the one you see in cartoons or in comic books??
There may be something in that box, sitting by the kitchen door that should have been put out for garbage pick up but somehow didn't make it out to the curb, that I can use.
I jumped up and ran to the box. YES! There it was, just what
I needed...A CD holder. You know, the old wire
kind. The one that only holds about 20 CD's.
I retrieved it from the trash box and went back into the kitchen feeling so smart and proud of myself. After washing the CD holder I took all the lids and placed them, largest ones at the back and worked my way to the smaller ones at the front in the CD holder. Then placed it in the cabinet with the bowls.
The lids, as well as the bowls, are now where I can get to them any time I need one and I smile every time one of my friends comes over and needs to get in the cabinet to use a bowl. I have the most organized cabinets of anyone I know.
Now I'm always trying to think of different ways to use other things before I throw them away. I even have a box for all those odd things and on the side it says "useful trash".
Hey! don't throw that away I know there's got to be another use for it...Put it in the box.
I'm sure there must be something we can use it for. I just need for the light over my head to come on again. And it will if we wait long enough.
