Traffic Exchanges are an often misunderstood form of advertising medium for Internet Marketers to advertise their products, services or themselves. Simply explained a traffic exchanges will display your site to other users in return for you viewing other sites. Typically, free exchanges will require you to view fellow member's site for a period of between 10 and 30 seconds and will reward you with displaying your site for a similar period to others.
At first glance, it appears a highly labor intensive way of doing business, but with some common sense, a little creativity and consistent application, traffic exchanges can prove to be a highly effective way of advertising for Internet Marketers to Internet Marketers.
Here are the rules to follow when using Traffic Exchanges
1. Recognize your viewers and advertise accordingly. Who are you advertising to? Internet Marketers What do they want? Assistance with marketing their product or service - not another cookie cutter website program that is a regurgitated matrix forced power line from hell
2.Brand yourself - do not advertise affiliate pages - advertise you and what you have to offer - a free course, a gift an eBook or software in exchange for the viewers subscription to your mailing list
3.Establish a weekly newsletter to keep in touch with your subscribers recommending quality products and services that can help with their business
4.Use a multi tabbed browser like Mozilla Firefox or Crazy Browser to surf multiple exchanges simultaneously. I have ten tabs open and they earn me between 16 and 20 advertising credits per minute.
5.Establish a daily routine of surfing Traffic Exchanges and stick to it - results will be slow at first but they wil come
6. Join a viral traffic building program like Traffic Hoopla and recommend it to your subscribers - Traffic exchanges reward you with advertising credits for referrals, a program like Traffic Hoopla automates this process
7.Advertising you means advertising splash pages - this means that you may have to invest in some web hosting - there are free web-hosts available, but I recommend that you invest in a quality web host that will pay you commissions for referrals, something like Kiosk which rewards you handsomely for referrals. Most traffic exchanges have splash pages that you can use and design yourself but their applications are limited, but as a starting point you may like to trial these.
8.Test and refine your advertising. Use an ad tracking service and site rotator to trial different headlines and pages to see what works best, then keep what works and discard the rest
9.Have a plan and work it, don't get distracted by the latest over hyped product stick to what you know and work diligently.
Results will come with practice, patience and persistence.
Good luck
