What is Reiki?

Mss Hawayo Takata started a diary, from the early start she came in contact with Reiki. A part of it follows below :

“In an attempt to describe the “Art of Healing”, I will try to be more practical than technical, because what I’m trying to define cannot be connected with any material being; it’s nameless, shapeless and invisible.

I believe in existence of a Supreme Being – The Absolute Infinity – a Dynamic Power, that rules the world and universe. It is a invisible spiritual power that vibrates and make all other powers insignificant. That is why this power is Absolute.

This power is inscrutable en immeasurable. Because it is a Universal Vital Power, it’s for human impossible to grasp. Yet, every living creature, awake or sleeping, receives it’s blessings.

Several teachers and masters call it the Great Spirit, Universal vital Power or Universal Life-energy, because it revitalizes the entire system, when it’s applied: Ether-wave, because it eases the pain en it brings you in a deep doze, like being under anesthetic: The Cosmic-Wave, because it sends vibrations that makes you feel jubilant and lifts you to a harmonious level.

I will call it “REIKI”. Reiki is a vibration similar to a radio wave. It can work local, but it can also travel all over the world, just like a radio-wave. A remote control can be handed over with success.

Reiki is not electricity, Radium or X-rays. It travels through thin layers of silk, linen, pottery, laid, wood or steel. Precious fibers or nerves cannot be harmed. Because it is absolutely harmless, it is a safe and practical therapy.

Because it is a Universal Wave, every living creature benefits from a treatment. Plants, birds, people Young and old, poor and rich.

Treatment on a daily base prevents illnesses. God gave us this body. Just a vehicle. We were put on this earth with a purpose. To reach that purpose we need to be happy and I good health. After all, it was God’s plan and He provided us with the necessary tools. He gave us hands to work with and to heal. This way, we can maintain our health and keep our brain in harmony, to liberate us from ignorance.

We can live in a enlightened world, in harmony with ourselves and others and all living creatures. If we use these rules every day, the body will react.

Everything we want in this world, we can get. Health, happiness and long life. We are all looking for this. I call it “Perfection”.

Because everybody IS a Universal Power, coming from the Great Divine Spirit, it’s everybody’s right to learn the Art of Healing. It doesn’t know skin color, belief or age. It will find its way to the student who is willing to learn and accept. He will be shown the way.

The initiation is a holy ceremony and contact is made with the Devine Spirit: therefore it’s not possible to make mistakes and therefore we do not need to question it. It is Absolute.

After the initiation of the first degree, the hands will radiate vibrations when put on the sick spot of the body. It will ease the pain, stops the bleeding. The hands are ready to cure chronicle en acute illnesses of humans, plants and animals.
