Why Adoption is the Best Option! Pets are a wonderful, meaningful part of life. They bring unconditional love in to a home. As companions they can join you in your favorite activities, as housemates they can alert you to new visitors, or be a friendly alarm clock! In times of joy they are often our most enthusiatic celebrants, and in times of sorrow they offer the unfaltering shoulder to cry on. When searching for that new family member to bring home you could start at a pet store or with a breeder. But ask youself, is this the right way to go? for my family? for my home? for my community? All across the country shelters and rescues struggle with the problem of overpopulation. Unwanted litters of pups, stray cats, multiplying rabbits, the cute puppy that grew in to a big dog... they are all left behind. Buying your pet through a pet store or breeder only adds to these problems. By adoption you can be a part of the solution. It's also important to adopt responsibly. Research what kind of pet can fit nicely in to your life before you head out to find one. Basing your decision on a cute, furry face rather than the reality of pet ownership is setting youself up to lose. As you start your quest for that new love in your life, remember make the best choice for you, and for the living creature you will be bringing home!
