World Trade Center Sphere 2003 We had just returned from a 45 day cruise around South America and had docked in New York City two days before. We had never been to Ellis Island, so we took the boat over. Spending the full morning touring the exhibits, we were exhausted. Having a quick lunch on the inland, we decided to take the boat back to Battery Park landing.
The boat ride is pleasant at this time of year in June. The boat smelled of oil and life jackets, but it was assuring to know that the life jackets where there if needed. Got a chance to take some video of the ride back to the mainland. There were all types of boats and ships coming and going for everyone was out enjoying the Saturday day off.
As we docked at Battery Park, we could hear a sax being played in truly mournful voice. There is an incline as you start up into the park. So the first thing you see is the pavement because the sun is bright and because of the incline.
As you reach the top of the rise or crest of the incline, the photoart that is listed in images below titled "World Trade Center Sphere" was the image I captured with the video camera.
On the sound track of the video captured at the same time, you can hear the crying of the sax being played by a African-American I thought. But later I found out the individual was actually from a small town in Nigeria. What a pleasant individual to discuss with his views of America, he having only arrived the month before.
The photoart piece has been printed, enhanced, scanned, reworked in Photoshop then printed again. This image makes me feel very sad at how much some people hate Americans. The gentleman from Nigeria had said that he loved America and the American people and wished he could undo what had happened to damage the beautiful art piece the World Trade Center sphere. His sax cried for all of us.
